After 4 long years I've finally finished my apprenticeship as a HGV mechanic :bliss: Just waiting to get my papers through from City and Guilds. Next step, better job I think :D

Karl

Well done Karl, does that mean you are now qualified to get your boose back on the road

Well done fella, good to see young people learning a proper 'hands on' trade. No matter how many Uni graduates there are out there, sat in front of a screen tap-tap-tapping away at a keyboards and shuffling paper, we need more skilled tradesmen doing 'real' work.
Congratulations on your achievement!

Nice one mate !!!! 8) ;) 8)

I take it from some of the other posts, that your boooose may not be quite complete ??? Have I got the right picture ??? Well I know that feeling, scraped mine together in one piece for the Cheddar octo festy thingy (nearly killed myself doing it) and some herbert who shall remain nameless called my bus "FRANKENSTEIN" a bit harsh I thought, but well done on sorting out that apprenticeship, and if you find a real good job with loads of dosh and not too many hours, and not too much work, see if you can get me in there as well.

Ozziedog,,,,,,, Creator of FRANKENSTEIN  :?

Cheers for the kind words doods :D Ozzie! in answer to your question, yes my boose is in many parts  but I've thrown alot of money at it and it's coming along nicely now 8) I've rebuilt the engine, overhauled the brakes and Graham L will be pleased to hear I've lowered it at last  Gotta bleed the brakes, fit a clutch cable and a new wiring loom then go for mot :D As for the job front, although I've trained in HGV enginneering my dream has always been to work on Aircooled V-dubs! Buses inparticaular. Maybe 1 day I will forfill that dream ;)

Yeah,, I seem to remember something about that (lowering). I`m still a bit lost with that and I gotta do something, so what did you do in the end ????? I would prefer it much more if there was one way and one way only to lower the bus, but cause there are so many versions, I`m getting a bit indecisive as to which way to go. I`m leaning towards slamwerks and T haus as opposed to red 9 at the moment, so what did you do :?: 8) :?:

Ozziedog, indecisive, maybe

On the lowering front all I've done is have an Adjuster welded into the top tube of the front beam by Bus Werkes and go down a spline on the rear. I'm hoping in the new year to get some drop spindle so I can go down another couple inches. I brought a complete 2nd hand beam off this forum and as I say just had an adjuster welded in, sprayed it, fitted new grease nipples, a set of T2D slam shocks and that's it. Should get about a 5 inch drop at front, dunno what back is yet as it's not on wheels yet  But I want a bit of rack to it 8)

Cheers again for the comments chaps
