Met Mole off here today & had a look over his 72 westy import (nice looking van but more on that later). Was having a look at the engine, rolled back out & noticed a spider moving on the floor - A Black Widow......
Nice - even nicer was its off-spring tucked away under the battery tray.

I reckon Mole was just using me as bait to lure them out

We've both been feeling a bit itchy since

Westy looked like a good solid import, needs a few mechanical things sorting but all in a pretty good first time purchase 8)

All I will say is ask Gadget the same question, we had a similar incident quite recently and it can only have come from one of two buses in our unit, both of which have been in the country nearly a year.

I've printed off a handy spider ID chart that we now have on the wall

PS he didn't find it funny either, the RSPCA came and collected it!!

A year!?

Sorry but fuck that, I stripped my interior out when mine landed - I don't do spiders.

Neither does Gadget   and yes both buses had been over nearly a year

Snap my cali import....

the young and the males dont have any poison but that big bitch of a girl did.....

I ran in one direction knocking her to the floor she lept out of the slider and away to Helens car.....

Theres some strange looking spiders in my garden at the mo..... had a couple of mild winters since the great escape..... it always crosses my mind the possibility of hybrids even though its not possible with arachnids....

yeah i know some of you have already seen it but i couldn`t resist because of the way this thread is headed

BTW is anyone else singing 'spider chart, spider chart...' in their heads?

 Now I'm worried, having spent the last week poking in and around the engine bay and replacing the battery tray. How long can these beasties live in a garage in the UK for?

Might look into getting a bug bomb for the garage......

Simon

Apparently up to a year according to the RSPCA   but the warmer climate isnt helping us,
