Heater tube / channel

Hi, I am putting an external oil cooler on my early bay and want to know whether the old heater duct / tube / channel forms part of the “structure” of the bus? It would make things easier and tidier for me to run the cooler line through this tube and out through some drilled holes halfway down........ thanks in advance!

The tube is a replaceable part, so I don't think it is.
I cut mine and plumbed my Propex into it ,now heats the whole bus.
