OK, my steering box is not the best. It was stripped, lubricated and re-assembled a while ago and I know there is damage on the worm/peg that isn't going to heal up! It's fine at the moment, but in the long term I will most likely need a solution.

So my question is do I...

- Spend £995 on a NOS early box
- Fit a a late bay box £100ish
- Convert to a rack setup £120 + a shed load of work
- Fit a Creative Engineering rack kit £1k

Your thoughts and experiences please!

Thanks,

Nobbly

Late bay box is easy enough. But if you wan't a power rack this is quite a bit of work, I've got some bit as i duplicate all the parts for mine.

I was lucky enough to get a nos late box (LHD) for £80. Bought a conversion plate from Neil at lite steer for £35 and jobs a good un. Steering is smooth and easier as there are more turns lock to lock.

Cheers for the replies guys.

Latebay box seems the simplest solution, I'll keep my eyes peeled :msn4:

planning a rack conversion on mine using a polo mk2 rack and a 90deg box of a renault master van just need to make 2 mounting plates to bolt either side of chassis using steering bob mountings. Also can be converted back if needed.

What about getting your box reconditioned , Graham l on here does them
