I love that despite the fact it has a fair amount of "FRAGILE" tape on it, it has been abused so. I hope the contents (that you need tell us!) has survived the bumpy ride :p

Bought some cuts from FBI - great service, ordered Thusday afternoon and delivered early Friday morning 8)

Will allow me to fix all the around the crap bits around the hatch plus the rear quarters and the valance - a few pics:

Nearside - an excellent panel:

Offside - not the best but 100% better than what is on:

And a view of the valance:

Should be able to repair 70% of the damage.
Will still need a battery tray, nearside wing and wheel tub than that should be the body finished.

Cheers

I can't believe how much work you've got, it really didn't look that bad, just shows what can be hidden till you start digging about  good luck

Good luck Andy :D

Very funny
I will need the luck too :D

Decided which bumper irons you're keeping? No rush by the way - a fair way from needing a set myself

Look forward to Sundays update ;)

Not even though about that yet - soz

I'm sure you will be at that stage well before me ;)

Managed to get a few hours in the garage looking at some of the of the metal that I purchased from FBI.

Started with the rear panel that goes under the boot hatch - ground it back to bare metal to see what it was like.
A few dints and rust holes but should do the job OK:

Just to be on the safe side, dusted it over woth some etch primer:

Started to grind back one of the rear quarter cuts to see what I have with that and not to bad (I hope).
This is the offside rear quarter:

A horrible hole near the lower corner but seems reasonable (though full of dents...)

Checked the chassis area as this is the main part that I need:

Notice that this side only has to holes for the bumper bar mounting - means more work than I was hopeing for :(

Checked the areas around the hatch and not as good as I hoped either but should be usable:

Will try and do a bit more next week.

Cheers.

Nice one Andy, are you using a flap wheel in the grinder to clean them up ?

I am - using a wire wheel to get in the small areas plus an old wood chisel (sharpened and does a very good job)

Keep up the good work buddy!

Thanks :D

Due to family etc, only got to spend a few hours today so started to cleanup the nearside rear quarter which is in really good nick.
Thought i'd get rid of all the crud on the inside rear corner and battery tray and chassis - a few pics:

Not done anything for the last few weeks due to work, family and the weather.
Hope to start again in a few weeks time and get some replacement metal on.

How's it going Andy?

Happy New Year!

Hiya G - not to bad - work and weather has got in way of the van so nothing done since last update :(
Hopefully get back to it soon.

And a belated happy New Year to you too (is the interior done now??)

Interior is further along, but not far enough. Health issues got in the way of further progress :S
Sadly going to have to replace the wooden floor I laid now methinks as I have a teeny, tiny leak on each side that's caused them to go a lovely colour. That plus the fact I cut holes for my rear bench seat that I no longer use justifies a new floor being made.

Have cleared out the garage enough to have some working space though, so progress can't halt completely now :p
