Good to see your back in the saddle, I was wondering how you were getting on. Common dude get teh ole girl back on the road so we can bump into each other at a show or two.... ciders getting warm.

Good to see you back Andy.. I hope to see regular updates :D

Andy, have you noticed how everyone has been waiting for you to carry on with your bus ?

Sounds like you need to give up all the globe trotting for work and get a more 'bus friendly' day job

Sorry to hear about the latest bunch of repairs you've discovered. :(

Keep at it mate , you'll get there in the end , good luck !

 Thanks all :D

Do hope to get it on the road but now working in a none covered area and only weekends so it will be slow but I will be working on it and do hope to meet a load of peeps off here at a show or two

Thought I would have a quick check tonight so as to decide how to move forward and which panels to buy..

Took away some paint and tons of filler to check the rear panel and also the rear quarters:

Looks like they will all need replacing to be honest.

Started looking at the nearside battery tray and it could be salvageable - what do ya think?

Also started removing whaterever they put over the rust to hide it on the cahssis to see what could be salvaged here:

Pics not great but never mind!!

Cheers

Cheers Nick.

Spent more time today unravelling what the PO had managed to cover up and looks like a typical UK bus :x

Continued with the nearside rear corner and what a surprise - not!!!
A few pics tell the story:

That was the start then, after removing more paint, filler and fibreglass  , ends up with this:

Look a none metal wing.....

Started on the interior of the engine bay to get rid of the black stuff....

A few more holes in the top of the chassis - looks like the pan that holds the aircleaner will have to come out (don't think the pics are too good...):

Managing to get most of the black stuff off - tends to just cover rust but only surface for most of it ;)

The offside rear tub and outer wing look to be OK but the nearside needs replacing - great.

Cheers

Any chance of getting it to a sand-blasters? I did all of the chassis and engine bay on mine before I started proper work on it. It didn't get everything off, so a wire-brush on a drill was needed for some sections, but it made the majority of it a bit quicker. :msn4:

Not really :?
Been using a wire wheel today and thought I would have a quick look at some of the bubbling around the rear hatch and looks very bad - full of holes and rusty metal including the usual good amount of filler

Will get some pics up after.

Good to see you back on. Pics look all too familiar. Best of luck getting it sorted.

Cheers Kevin.

Anywho - a few pics as promised:

Looking at from the inside of the rear panel and as can be seen (or not as the pics aren't the best...) the outer panel is rust city:

B@ll@cks.............

Blimey Andy, thought you'd given up and gone in search of another bus. Youve been very quiet of late.

You have to love a 'well cared for' UK bus. My old one was like that and i ended up with this when i took all the rust/filler out my front arch

Keep at it as it will all be worth it in the end. It will pay you back in smiles for all the blood sweat and tears it absorbs :D

Keep at it Andy, I thougth you'd completed yours as your thread went quiet!
I feel for you, I've uncovered very similar problems all the way, I started a rolling resto in May 2010 and it hasn't been on the public road since! Keep at it, it will be worth it one day.

Mark

Cheers all.

Nothing will happen over the next 2 weeks due to working away plus this weekend its the wifes 40th (oops, should I be telling folks that.....)
