Can't believe its been since June I posted anything on this thread

As some of you may know, the bus is back on my driveway due to various reasons but having to work 5 days a week abroad and Christmas round the corner, any work will have to wait until next year :(

Many thanks to Gvee for coming round and pushing the van onto the drive (with the help of my daughter in the driving seat, my son and 2 strangers) 8)

A few pictures of the van at home:

Morning of the delivery - he wouldn't put it on the drive but heyho !!

After coating the bare metal with red oxide (extra thick as well - cheers George!!) we managed to get a tarp and my old Gazebo cover over to help protect it a little:

Plan next year is to remove the engine to make moving it around a bit easier.
Cut out some more metal at the back and replace the battery trays.
Repair the rear bumper bracket mount.
Replace all brake pipes and check the rest of it over.
Replace the shocks and anything which needs doing underneath.
Protect the underneath fully.
Treat the inside to some protection and seam seal then spray.
Take the front window out and repair around the inside.
Refurb the bumpers and mount.
Replace all rubbers and see what needs fixing :?
Apply filler where needed and spray the outside.

Make a new interior based on the old one.
Make the interior good.

MOT and use.

Quite simple really.. :D

I've got a list like that.
Just make it roadworthy, use it and do bits and pieces when you can. :D

Point a webcam at it?

Hi Andy
Coming on nicely. As we all know it takes time and money to get most buses up to scratch .

Looking good so far, keep up the good work!

Yeah but he only took it off the road (about 10 years ago) to spruce up the pop top. C'mon Andy - you must camp next year!

Cheers Toffo24 :D

Zed, not quite 10 years but still far too long ;)

Just off to the airport so see you all soon

It's a camper innit?
Another month gone by. :msn4:
If you spent the time you spend on here sorting your bus, it'd be done by now. Chop-chop Andy. :)

wise words from the king of autocad procrastination.

whats keeping you? it was only -3C in Garforth this morning.

I know, I know :?

Away 5 days a week so try to spend time with the family and catch up with everything I have missed etc.....
I was going to start on the bumpers this morning but got dragged into something else then ended up going for a walk to take photos with my Xmas present, then GVEE popped round for a chat so time went by.

I promise to start in the next few weekends with grinding back the welds from when I put the floor in and get it tidied up ready for some paint and seam sealer. Honest ;)

Hello all and nice to be back :msn4:
Due to work and wife projects (getting the patio finished...) I am hopefully going to be able to continue on the getting the van finished

Got the rear of the van in the air so that I could see what need to be done to get it through the MOT (a few pictures to come as we all like pictures):

So - removed the tinware and the 'zorst and had a good poke around - never good on a UK bus
So, rot in the right hand chassis leg, both battery trays are foobarred and also the rear quarters.
Also the inner rear valance on the left side looks a bit holey so will have to be massaged.

Let the battle commence...................

Cheers all :D

Hope the weather holds off this weekend as I so want to get the engine out.

So, after spending Saturday laying flags in the corner of my drive and making a small wall got to remove the engine from the van today 8)

Took about 3 hours but including undoing nuts that had rounded and total rusted plus the rear wheels had been put on by the Hulk as it took a lot of hassle to get them off :x But off they came :D

Pleny of oil in the bell housing:

Had a good nosey around and the wire has been butchered but to be expected................

Anyway - looks like a lot more will have to be replaced or repaired but that's life (especially when the van is a UK one)

Thinks when I put it back together I will be going for stainless steel nuts and bolts.

Cheers
