Good weather today - thought I would start removing some more of the underseal, but changed my mind.
Decided to tackle the rust spots in the bed where the fuel tank sits. Cut out the rust and leave a nice hole.

The off side hole

The nearside hole

Nearside hole welded up (not my best welding, as not done any for some time, but penetration is good so will just need grinding down)

The offside hole also welded up - again not the best but ready for grinding.

Light started to fade so will see if the weather holds out over the Christmas holiday and see if I can finish of the grinding - won't have to be perfect as will be covered by the fuel tank!!

Cheers :)

Keep going mate, Christmas is the time for restorations. ;)

I've had a good look and can't find any roof/gutter cuts unfortunately.

Cheers Si and never mind about the root/gutter cuts - sure I will sort something out.

In between showers and stuff, ground down the welds and covered in anti rust liquid.

Added some seam sealer to protect it further then a touch of zinc primer....

Followed it with a zap of normal primer

That's if for now as getting dark again.

Cheers

After doing a service on my daily (oil and filter change) decided to spend some time dismantling some bits kindly donated by Phil (REPHIL) in the guise of some old CV joints, CV boots and drive shafts that he no longer needed (as in surplus to requirement).

First, a picture of the wrapped article:

One of the units before dismantling (the ball bearings had fallen out of this one and the CV boot was no longer on)

Nice and dirty - just how I like it.....

After dismantling the bits, most of the CV joint parts were of no use as too damaged :(

So - on to the next assembly.

31.12.2015

So - dismantled the next set of CV joints/CV boots etc and hurrah - managed to find two of the CV units to be salvagable so I now have
5 CV joints and 6 CV boots to choose from :)

The side where the bearings had escaped, thought I would clean them up to check them and all beyond repair (not sure if you can see in the picture)

So, in the New Year, plan to get the bits cleaned up properly and put together again with fresh grease, so watch this space

Cheers

Good work, lad.
Is 2016 the year?

The last 10 years have been the year ;)
Hoping it will be (this is what I am aiming for anyway)

Andy,
Only just seen the post. You had me worried for a moment there - till I saw you could make a good set up.

Good to see you again & the good work you've done on the bus.

Bloody wet up there over Christmas. We were just above Kirkstall road!

Phil.
