What googles do you use? Are they the full wrap-around ones or more like glasses?
Full wrap ones - I didn't have them very tight so this, I assume, is how something got in.
After waiting for around 2 hours, got seen - took the object out, looked to be less than 1 mm but the pain.
Hopefully, after a few days it should be back to normal.

Glad you got that sorted! Bet you tighten the strap now.
True :msn4:

Having them too loose will allow something to get into them, but there are other possibilities such as a piece on your hand or hair when you are taking them off, then putting them back on, or something falling into the vent holes that are there to prevent them misting up, which could happen when you are looking down at the floor, then look back up. :? :(

Also, when not in use, even whilst you are taking a 5 minute break, do you leave the goggles up-side-down? That could allow something to fall into them, which then goes straight on your face when you put them back on.

Glad you're alright buddy. :party0047:

All good now thanks - worked on the van today (no pics) so had them even tighter today and no issues ;)

Spent today cutting out some rust on the inside of the arch then putting a new piece in.
Will grind back the welds and seam seal then flash some primer over etc.... but busy for the next few days.

Nice working in the sun and warmth today!

Great work Andy definitely getting there and your going to be on the road this year 8) truely inspirational

Last week I took delivery of a pair of hub/brakes/axle - hope to use all of the parts as they seem to be in good condition :)
A few pics

Got the axle nut off the first one OK

But not the second one as my whacker tool gave up the ghost :(

Oh and almost finished one end of the nearside rear tub. Just need to order the closing panel at the rear and weld in then start on the other side - a few pics (not exciting at all ;) )

Seriously tight, hope you didn't go flying when it broke
Fortunately not but the air was very blue.
Ordered another one so will see how long this one lasts :D

Took delivery of some goodies, but made a ****oo - ordered 8mm engine studs, but should of ordered 10mm :(

Was hoping to start rebuilding the engine but will have to wait a bit now!

Got the closing panel for the nearside rear tub, so prepared it then tacked in:

Then fabricated a bit to go between the splash guard and the inside of the tub:

Plus, a cheeky pic of the van :)

Closed off the offside tub repair :

Started to grind back the welds and will then treat with anti-rust stuff and a bit of filler and what-not.
These are the last of the repairs (welding wise) to be done at the rear - just need to remove the remainder of the underseal!

Struggled to get the brake drum off of the hub but got their in the end :)

Bit disappointed with the backing plate as was hoping it was salvageable but was foobared where it was touching the hub - never mind....

=======================================================================

26.04.2016

Got the stub axle out of the hub and got it cleaned up!

What's left of the hub:

This is the axle with some anti rust stuff splashed on - tomorrow I will tickle some paint on it then the rebuild can commence :)

They are a ***** to get out aren't they!

The spindles look in great condition though! I do not think that has been apart many times, if at all. :D

It is and like you say, don't think these have ever been off !

27.04.2016

Put a coat of paint on the new axle so while that is drying started building the hub.
Heres what I started with.

That will be it for a few days as I will need the boot clips

Got mine to do at some point, some good work there pal, will look real good when all together

New piston rings installed - will give this pair another cleaning:

Bling!!

Adjustable pushrod tubes ready and waiting:

20160430_155534_zpslfx0feox.jpg

But - wanted to fit the head, but I forgot it had a stuck exhaust stud so thought I would remove this first.

20160430_160307_zps6b6xed4o.jpg

Welded a nut to it:

20160430_161108_zpstuosxoox.jpg

And.... the nut came off :(
Welded 3 more nuts and all came off.
So got a larger nut and welded this on - but it broke off more stud.

Will have to get it drilled out I think :(
