not quite there yet, but far better than it was.

and a few bags of sand and cement creates a great argument for lowering EVERYTHING

Photo086.jpg

was about 2 inches lower last time with a couple of extra bags in.

well, the new engine runs, doesnt idle very well, but that can be sorted later, it would have been nice to have been told it had been helicoiled before i bought it but i have a spare head on my other engine that i can swap if i need to.

so its just waiting for the nice man (despite being very very slow) to finish the wiring loom, roof, windows, brakes, steering, etc... get the green ticket and i can drive it all the way back to my house to be taken off the road again for a few months whilst i get more work done.

at least i can do the work myself if its on my drive.

well, this morning heralded an update from the workshop. the bloke doing the van has been offered a job stating the week after next so has decided that my van MUST be done and out of the workshop by the end of next week. which is handy, not sure how far on it will be, hopefully ill have an MOT and be able to drive it home. But at least i can take photos of all the work done then to satisfy all the picture whores on here.

cant wait to get it back now.

ok, a few teasers from today then, just to keep you all happy.

Great pics,so that new job of his will work to your advantage! Loving that colour with the white roof.wish I'd have had that colour. Keep up the good work dude!

cheers dude. getting the white roof was a mission, the hole was huge and paris beetles very nearly didnt make the rag top big enough. but its all good. not overly convinced by the security of the sliding mechanism, but that can be discussed when iv tweaked it a little :msn4:

well,its back !!!!!

unfortunately a few issues prevent instant enjoyment, despite being told to make watertight there are still NO door seals in... the old bocrap carb needs swapping for my freshly rebuilt solex, the gear shift is stiffer than a corpse and the fuel guage is buggered, but its too dark and bloody noisy to do anything atm. lets hope i actually get some time off from constant work this week.

pics to follow

so, as above, anyone in york fancies fixing stuff, your always welcome, and the kettle is practically always on,

its chianti.
the pics are a bit dark since iv been at work all the hours i have light, but im off tomorow morning so ill try get some more pics up before i head out to my health and F@%&ing safety course.

well, tonights work, Ems' mother is dropping in on her way back to Wales so late dinner meant i could get the carb swapped over, bit fiddly since i didnt want to move anything i didnt have to but it starts and idles now, a bit fast but i can tweak it when i have more time. The tailgate seal is in, again a bit tight so tweaking necessary but a start, and as for the other seals, why could he not put them in before putting the bloody doors on or running wires right in the bloody way? and why dont i have my big halogen spot lamps? and why......

on a lighter note my dials panel has a bit of the edge missing and my fuel guage wants replacing so i might just swap the whole lot. i really need to get out to it in the light, if only to declare my mileage for insurance.

Temporary cover came today, pretty good quality, bit too dark for pics, but im off work tomorow so should be doing a couple of bits, and hopefully remembering the camera.

well had a productive afternoon yesterday, made a start on reconstructing the dash and vents.
And since they had 40 years of dust and crap on and in them i gave them a good scrub first.

well in theory my fuel guage should now work, just had to solder a wire back on, and improvise a new attachment and cardboard insulating washer. not pretty, but i do love my electrical tape. pictures are too much effort right now, lol.
