had the big guns out today, both Neils helping out, sorted out my stiff gears, put in all the door seals, front bumper on, had a bit of a tidy and then posed.

and my fuel guage works after my quick fix....

see if it was in anyway original inside id have gone straight for neptune blue, but its been so badly butchered over the years, with nothing left of the og interior, the tintop chopped out etc.. plus i had nightmares about stripping blue paint lol. the girlfriend wants it red and white, which i must say is tempting, but despite having nearly 3 years now to decide, im still lost lol.

and if dubscum gets involved, yes the wheels will be painted the same colour as the van.

The pop top is original Danbury :D

the poptop was but the hole it fitted in wasnt, i checked about a bit when i first started looking all those years ago and the other couple of danbury tops i saw were much tidier and better converted mine just looked like a nutter with a still saw had chopped a hole in and balanced a roof on.

unless thats what danbury did and the other two had been tidied up by people with an identical eye for detail.

cheers though

Looking good mate, but I'm thinking you may have a rethink on the dash top at some point. :)

i agree, the whole glare thing is becoming rather obvious in the pictures

Wait till you drive it mate, it's not that bad at all. Mines white and I hardly notice it.

got to say its barely noticable, decided to go for a run out today before the roads get salty.

other than having an optimistic fuel guage (iv done about 60miles and its still full despite not actually filling it in the first place) and the engine revving like mad at idle untill it prodded it with a screwdriver, it was a bloody good run. And not a bad way to mark the first journey on a public road under its own power since 2007.

bit noisy though, think i need some insulation.

Easy sorted mate. All I did was put 2 kids on the back seat and a wife on the passenger seat and I can't hear anything any more!!

haha, iv got the added luxury of most of a stripped engine, a load of rusty scraps and some boxes of grubby bits bouncing around in the back.

and no back seat

Driving about? Nice! It has been a while hasn't it? Chuffed for you. :)

4 years, nice quick resto, just as id planned.

its unlikely to do much more this year since its got a lot colder now and the salt will be out soon, but it felt bloody good.

Come on dude, i wanna see it finished :D

Just

haha your not the only one. at least im back onto getting stuff done. iv been rinsing my holiday at work to get bits and pieces here and there to finish bits off. plus next wednesdays strike, picket my arse. (any GMB people on here, you didnt read that)

it should be finished enough to use and abuse by next spring.
as long as i get somewhere to put all my spare shit, My electrician is planning on getting a new shed and extending his garage for his westy and has promised me his old 7x7 shed, so hopefully i should be able to empty it out before christmas...

this takes thinking aloud to a whole new level.

slowly slowly, more little bits done, replaced most of the accelerator pedal linkage. ran my newly made loom for the spotlights, very neatly connected via the original interior light switch so as not to need anything chopping into the dash. more insulation put in, shiny new mirrors swapped on.

and then i decided to go for the shineys again.

nearly a month since my last update? seriously not on.

well, after much stress and 'hiccups' for want of a better word throughout the last month i can finally get back on the wagon.
And even better iv recently come into enough money to sort myself out with all the necessaries to properly slam the bus.
so, once it warms up a bit more and iv got the engine running right and the underside stripped and painted i reckon a call to slamwerks may be in order.

Noice! Keeping the steels?

Just

cheers, yeah, gotta keep the steelies. im already getting annoyed that my spare isnt red to match, so imagine what id be like until i could afford a full matching set of 5 alloys. lol

Been doing a few bits today. Got the non slider side cover and trim on. The badge no the tailgate and had a bit of a tidy. I test fitted the spot lights my dad got me. They sit too far forward so gonna figure out some way to use them where they look better.
