I AM YOUR FATHER LUKE ! :D

i cant believe iv never noticed that, my dashboard is a stormtrooper. genius,

and CB, no comment :msn4:

today we invented a new game, perfect for marriage guidance councillors to prescribe;
Tandem driving.

I decided to run the van out to fill up with petrol and stop things siezing up, and on the way thought id stop off and book it in for everything checking out and making right in the engine cupboard.
on the drive back we got a bit kangarooing but since i have a flat spot the size of a planet when i set off atm i just got a bit more twiddly on the pedals, then just as the traffic lights turned green... nothing, so i jumped out, Emmalene jumpedin the drivers seat and i pushed, as a nice (angry) lady told me she had always wanted one of these vans, but i had just put her off them
Round the corner i did a bit of twiddling and tightened the screw holding the accelerator cable in place, and Ems got the van started, and moving, que the little miss sunshine jump into the van close the door and take over the gears as we charged back home.

so next friday its someone elses problem... if i can get there.

fixed the fuel guage today, the earth contact was loose and kept shorting out on the back of the dash pod.

i really need to sort the carb out it seems to have used waaaay too much petrol for the distance iv driven.

also swapped my pressure switches and fitted a light in the rear roof support, wired both lights up so i can now see inside.

then i had a fag and went back inside lol.

went and picked up the van from the garage, since the bloke was useless and had done bugger all. I pushed it out into the BBC carpark and stripped and rebuilt the carb, got the engine running again, but not very well.

so i rang the nice people with the recovery van
2012-01-30152918.jpg

in the time i was there i had a guy tell me he had just been restoring a crossover, so i told him to get on here, and another guy who tried to get in the space next to me, scuffed my bumper with his tyre and said he would rather hit my bumper than the rangerover the othersides door cheeky fucker :x and went on to say he was helping a friend restore a late bay.

so now iv decidedthat this weekend im going to drop the engine, strip it down find out why its running on 3, tidy up the wiring clean and spray the tin, and swap my dizzy and dynamo for my spare and alternator... so not a lot left to fix then.

Nice one mate, looks like a busy weekend ahead! Someone hit our Audi cab in the carpark recently, luckily she had the decency to come and find us and fess up, its now having a new rear bumper :? Some peope are so careless  Bus looking good 8)

cheers, i must admit i do like looking at it.
my daily got reversed downa couple of years ago and the guy drove off leaving me to find it and have to use a pry bar to get the passenger door open, so its something i have a rather strong opinion on. to be fair i was up to my waist in the engine bay and told him he needed to reverse again. he said that as a joke.

think its going to be a couple of weekends work, i may as well get all the pissy little bits done in one go. save me pulling the engine again any time soon.

well, did a bit of shopping this evening, and now i have some 34ICT's and some scat 1.25:1 rockers, amongst other things coming, may as well do a little bit of improving if im pulling the engine out.

as much as i love snow, i would like it to warm up a bit so i can drop the engine and get started.

anyone got opinions on the rancho freeway flyer gear box?

Those carbs will make a nice difference, the rancho boxes are great, expensive, but great. Prob suit a larger engine.

thats what i thought, box wise, i just want to be able to sit at a comfy speed on the motorway, without having to go for a completely new engine (for now :msn4: )

What's wrong with 55mph then?
With low-pro tyres on the front your speedo will tell you you're doing almost 70 anyway.

oddly i prefer big chunky cruiser bikes. its cars to go fast in for me, although i am tempted to build a race car for the beetle challenge series.

Woah! How long did this build take? It won't look so good when you're an old fat bald blokey...

hi there, enjoying this thread.
I see that you decided to fit earlier style rear arches. Was that just cos you prefer the look of them? :D

Thanks.
it was more that they had been badly replaced by a previous owner (half a panel chopped out,m another one weded over it and the ends entirely made from filler)
and i just replaced like for like, its one of the first jobs i did before i had become quite such a geek (iv managed to get Ems spotting earlies in the rear view mirror and still be able to tell if its a Xover  )

sometimes i look at it and wonder if i should change them but i like them as they are.
