I never made it back to Outcast either, but the rest of the resto can be found from the link in my signature ;)

spent much time checking out your resto in the past, some serious skills mate.

Anyhow, today i decided to kart the rest of my shit to my dads and make some more progress on the bumper, not many photos, but its the right shape on the ends. and the big chunk of angle iron has been hacked out, i just need to patch a few holes i had to make to get out stubborn welds and a few rust holes and then i can try and straighten out the rest of the bumper.

done some online shopping today so expecting some nice new toys this week. had to settle for a EMPI SQP zorst, was either that or a monza and there was no way in hell one of those pieces of shit was going back on. sexy seatbelts, bits and pieces that never get noticed but all cost. still got £££££'s of stuff to get, but this lot should be enough to get an MOT. and the rest can come later.

should be going to see the progress on monday (in theory) so might have some progress shots for y'all then.

OH FFS!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, after some pestering iv finally managed to get through to the nice man to find out how my van is coming along, the original deadline was to be able to use it for summer, which has obviously gone to bollocks, then a month and a half ago it was 'iv got a week or two's work to get my split out of the way then its about 3 weeks and yours will be done'

now he has serious problems with the split so is driving to brum to pick up some bits... now i fully understand you want your van to work, but so do i! surely its far easier to get the customer's van out of the way, create space, take money and then fix your own toys???

long story short; rather irritated that the last of the good weather will be long gone before i stand a chance of getting the bus back.

well, apparently my dad has been working on my bumper when he got bored this weekend, and has been to A&E twice with sparks in his eye... i left my goggles and welding mask hung up on a pillar drill so they were easy to spot. I explained to him what happened when you fucked up and got ark eye or sparks in your eyes, i even explained the joys of welding sun burn... and this weekend he managed all 3. what a dickhead.

oh well, got a couple of deliveries last week, despite waiting 10 hours on friday for one, only to have to pick it up and be told they thought i was coming first thing friday morning to collect it...

mmmmm, sexy seatbelts (blatant form over function)

8) getting there dude

slowly, lol.
took the bits over today and applied some pressure, engine is going off this thursday... apparently.

iv still got to get saving for the ride height tweaks, whitewalls, interior, petrol...

I love your dad ;)

Fingers crossed regards the garage and getting you van done :D

i enjoy the playing about with the littler details, my budget should hopefully see it to an MOT then, its as and when, the long road to the finish. When there really is no finish :D I have no patience I could do a full resto. I've only had my bus a week and i want it on the road :?

good luck and have fun!

haha, cheers, yeah you cant help but love someone as stubbornly stupid as that.
he reads this thread and despite me trying to explain how to register and post pics it still escapes him, so im as clueless as everyone else as to what my bumper looks like atm.

and ash, i know the impatient feeling, its nearly 4 years since i last drove my van, and im going mental, but the small details are where its at, iv had long enough to plan them out, everything down to the colour and pattern of the stitching on the door cards...

not that bloody daft and yes i do read this so watch what you say lado  now the bumper looks like a bit of 4x4 pine painted white it will do for your van lol

By the way got a great suntan from the welder much cheaper than a holiday, once i could see it again that is.  so out welding again this weekend. Even the wife wants to weld now to top up her tan.

ey up what you claiming to rock a '71 for? you cant claim to own my van thats not how parenthood works, and where are the phtos i keep telling you to upoad?

and its only cheaper than a holiday because i have to pay for the bloody welding wire........ plus your lecky bill hasnt turned up yet

last thing i want to do is claim the rust bucket you call a van lol, ill stick to my modern tdi car thanks 50 to gal not 20. i anrt made of cash. ps the elecy bill will be offset against rent of my garage for storage. need more filler by the way bumpers looking better but eats filler to fill in the dents and get it flat. tin you got went nowhere tight sod.

and on a lighter note, my engine is buggered, fixable, but will cost about 1k atm, so i need to try and find a new one preferably a runner, preferably cheap.

any help greatly appreciated.

Hey Antoine - still going I see - I seem to remember you were racing through it when you started.
Paint looks very good 8)

yeah, still at it, i didnt have a job, or a girlfriend to swallow up all my time back in those days though. lol. plus since iv sent it off to 'nice man' its slowed right down, hes had it just over a year now and its still in many bits. but hey ho, im too skint to drive it atm anyway, so it can wait.

Love reading your posts. Interesting to watch a complete hunk of bus turn into something sharp.
Nice work, and dedication. Keep up the good work!

[EDIT] From page 1 i see your bus was Sierra Yellow underneath, or am i wrong? That's the under color of my 71 before i stopped gagging and had it painted Kansas Beige (another 71 color). Love the red.

thanks fella. it was neptune blue origionally, the yellow pic might be the front panel covered in high build primer. I was tempted to spray the wole thing that colour and stencil chequer plate stripes down the sides new york taxi style. lol.
