I've had too much grief with the rear brakes to worry about centre caps at the moment, Mycha.

Anyway, new master cylinder fitted and I still have no brakes. It did need changing though as it was leaking though the seals.
Spent most of today bleeding the brakes, changing pipes around on the master cylinder and then bleeding them again. Still no pedal and rear brakes.....
Until about 4.30, when the thought occurred of undoing the callipers from the carrier, packing the piston and then bleeding them with the bleed nipple as high as the flexible pipe would allow.

Bingo, loads of air removed and I can stop. :)
Handbrake connected and now just waiting for the hub nut spacers to arrive, and then I can drive home.

I won't be running centre caps unless I fit shortened half shafts, and that won't be happening. At least not in the foreseeable future.
Hub nut spacers fitted today and the bus is back home, at last.

Next jobs, oil cooler, oil and filter change, and valve clearances.
What can go wrong.....?

You'll drain the oil and it will have bits of lifter & cam in it

I'm sure it will all go to plan :)

Just back from DatC, another cracking weekend (although we'll gloss over a couple of rather unfortunate incidents).
All set up on Thursday, Jim and Stu got there before me as I let them have a head start. ;)

Couldn't be arsed to take many pics, just chilled out for the weekend.
The thunderstorms called early Saturday morning and the canopy took a hit.....

The earlybay.com line-up was in Caldicot Castle this year, and the only way in was through the tradesman's entrance.
Good job I'd sorted the handbrake.

After convincing the Castle Manager that the grass would be fine, with minimal oil deposits, the rest were admitted and we set up.

We had a bit of rain, but it didn't stop people coming for a look.

However, today was hot and sunny and with slightly reduced numbers we did it again.

Hey Si, what happened to the Porsche 924 Turbo rims?

Still waiting for the front hub plates to be drilled. Yet another VW "specialist" with a lack of communication skills and a calendar....
I'll probably end up get the existing front ones drilled by the chap who machined the rear hub spacers.
I've still got to detail the wheels before I fit them as well, Nick.

The same one I had issues with?

Not thinking of going down the 944 front hub route? set on fleabay, not too expensive an option!! ;)

How are you going to detail them? black centres with polished lip?

No, funnily enough I've never had an issue with them.
I'm running FutBus front discs and still waiting for a set of hub plates drilled to both 5x 130 and 5x 205 to match the rears.
Black and polished in some form, but haven't decided which way yet. A bit of experimentation this weekend I think.

So, nothing much going on other than using the bus.
Went to a new local one day show the other week, Old Friends Air-Cooled Show. Pretty good start considering the lad who organised it is only 16 and can't drive yet.

Anyway, it's external oil cooler time tonight.

Bit of a bugger getting it all to fit under the battery tray. But it's not as cramped as it looks through, mocked up the oil lines, and the bends aren't too tight.
Just need to sort out the oil that smells of petrol now.....

All hooked up, no leaks. A few different angles for you Shaun.
It's a Mocal OTSP1X thermostatic sandwich plate, you'll also need a centre adaptor that fits your existing remote filter housing.

Just need to sort a stoneguard next.

Partially cured the fuel issues, the new fuel pump was pissing fuel into the sump so that got replaced with the old pump from the singleport.

Still got an awful stench while driving, so I think a new fuel cap will be the next purchase.

Cheers for the pics si 8) just had a quick look, and found it for £47 delivered on eBay and £6 for the centre adaptor (googled my filter centre size spec 3/4 unf) sound about right price? Where dd you get yours ?
