Sorted my horn wiring.

Hot side of horn was good. Ground-side wire was flapping loose near the steering box. Horn worked when it was grounded.

Started here with the brown wire that should be earth, but wasn't

Replaced the wire that runs up the steering column rod from the ground connection on the steering box flange. Found that the rubber coupling was conducting  Probably metal reinforced inside, resulting in the steering column rod and tube being grounded through the steering box. Disconnected the steering coupling - steering column not grounded.
Replaced the coupling. New split pins. This is the bottom of the wire that runs up the column.

Wire brushed and painted the steering coupler cover. Checked the insulator is good (cover is grounded on the floor, steering column is ground-side of the horn).
Replaced the wire before fitting because it's much easier to attach to the horn under the bus than it is to attach to the steering column under the bus.

Now the steering wheel button operates the horn :D

It's not like I've got too much time on my hands - honest, a thousand things to fit in between work and bed, but.....had to do my own take on something I saw on a splitty panel at Hessisch Oldendorf........ :)

Fit a new rear window seal in last night with Junior ... after finding a cm of water inside following monster storm. Good thing she's a bare bones empty panel!

Took Kermit to a local classic and sports car show at Bentley Wildfoul near Lewes in Sussex.
Temp was around the 37 mark and was sort of hunt the shade time.
Here's a couple of pics

Painted over the primer from Classic Car Revivals repair. Reasonably happy with the quality of my spraying but not the colour match. Not their fault - think it matched the original colour but not the cak the PO had put on.

So fired up the electric polisher and T-Cut. Getting there...

T-Cut and polish went well - never looked so good. All the different bits of paint are shiny now...

Replaced HT leads and plugs and had a go at balancing the carbs - almost idles now...

Walk passed it & thought only two months to the restoration begins when I can then use it if I have enough money left to fill the tank with fuel

Finally sorted my agreed valuation and unlimited mileage clause out with RH insurance

All for the massive sum of an additional £22!! Bargain!!

Removed the brake pedal assembly to replace the return spring and removed front part of gear linkage to fit front bush.

Hooked-up the caravan and tootled down to brother in laws for weekend of camping. Very nice - forgotten how much fun it all is...

Got towed home on the back of an AA truck :-( Have a cracked cylinder head :-(

Oh well, good excuse to get the engine out for a good service and tidy-up!
