I'm a member on a few forums (as are most of us) but over the last few days the people on volkstorque seem to have developed a hatred to vans and van shows.
Check out these 2 threads on volstorque regarding wheeler dealers and the bus stopover (you'll have to search for them)
Especially the wheeler dealers thread,
Is it jealousy?

MOD EDIT - Links removed for political reasons ;)

Mike :)

Its probably due to the fact the buses have taken over the VW scene (like it or not) and whereas when I first bought my camper 12 years ago they were cheap, now they are not. A case of supply and demand. It does grate me when people spend big money on a bus for restoration at all the "named" garages and specialists, show it for a year then move it on as a reluctant sale (ie they are bored with it) but hey-ho

However, I could not give a monkeys to be honest and some pc warrier going on about how someone should burn just makes me laugh. My main concern is getting mine through its MOT this week and going to Watergate Bay next weekend.

My mate tells me it is exactly the same on the Mini forums too!

Mmm, I think the criticism is leveled more at those who are appearing to benefit from the rise in demand (and therefore price) in buses, but it does come across as a little bitter by being derogatory to other forums which is gross generalisation.

I know one of the OPs from another non VW forum and he comes across as a particularly lucid and balanced character so am a little surprised... anyway, everyone is entitled to their own opinion and as above, I am more interested in the work I am going to do on my bus today....:)

Mr. Self Destruct is a Prick!!!!!

Not being a keyboard warrior and all that, he just is

Bay owners= Moneybags????? Id swap bank accounts with him

Rich

If Mr self destruct spent less time on the computer whining and more time working he could afford a bus

Errrmmm... thats one of my best mates your talking about, he is a real nice guy. Lets not turn earlybay into the kind of place that talks about people they do not know, because they came across in a manner you didnt like on a forum. Its not good for earlybay and its not good for the volkswagen scene.

i agree with you , its just a shame people do not think before making generalisations ( sorry if spelt wrong ) about people who enjoy certaian motors in our hobby!
IMHO a vw is a vw be it an early beetle or one freash out of the dealer and anything in between.

He tard everyone on EarlyBay with the same brush.
I started with a rust heap years ago and spent good time and money doing it up. Then i sold that at a loss and with a bit more financial input got the one i have now. Ive worked hard for 100s of hours to get my (unfinnished) bus where it is now. And no doubt when the day comes to sell it will go at a loss.
There are a few unscrupulous types out there that are just out to rip the genuine enthusiast off but then again thats across the board weather it be classic Ford, MG whatever...
Is he a member on here, ever been a member on here or just have the dream of an EB and got blown out of the water when he looked in the for sale section?
Never seen any arogance on here or one up manship on this forum.
Theres plenty out there i want but due to the sale and demand factor i cant afford. Doesnt mean everyone who has what i want are rip off merchants just means its outa my reach.

Lets not talk about people they dont know?????

Luke your "FRIEND" has blatantly done what you ae tellin members on here not to do. His comment is directed at any early bay owner (jealousy perhaps). Why should i not be offended by someone who has no idead of the time/money i have spent doing my van, calling me a money grabber....go figure eh

apart from his rant, i think all the other comments are aimed at non early bay owners who have realised there is money to be made in them thar vans :) be it arranging shows or importing and selling 'rust free' rusty bits

sorry but your mate is the sort of person that ruins the scene, live and let live and less of the bitter twisted shite, and slagging earlybay.com on another forum by a moderator of that forum! is well out of order, there no elitism on here you get all sorts of vans and we pride ourselves on being one of the friendliest.

Anyway what about the security/entertainment/facilities? how does he expect organisers to pay for all that with a £7.50 gate?, he blames earlybay owners and mentions earlybay.com so now we are the big problem because he cant afford to go to a show?. He needs to wind his neck in.

Ive removed the links in the first post as the VT forum shows link backs, and Id rather avoid wars raging. :)

There are interesting issues here, but lets not get personal. :)

Sorry, didn't expect this sort of response, also didn't realise that VT use a link back, just wondered what peoples thoughts was

I rarely look at other forums now....I've found my happy place. I'm glad that the other forums can moan about stuff as it allows people to vent somewhere else. We all get on well here as we all have at least one thing in common - love of the Early Bay - not hate for anything else. I like to look and focus on that common passion then I can have something good to say about anyone who is on here.

Interesting quote from the discussion:
True, but poor people don't buy type2s any more.

From my personal experience, poor people might not buy them...but once you've bought one it does make you poor!!
