Looking to rectify my poorly engine - cracked cylinder head. Whilst taking the back valance off my friend mentioned that I was missing 2 bits of tin - "air deflector plates". Looking through a couple of catalogues to find these parts - they also say they can be replaced by the Type3 tin called "cool tin" as they have better cooling properties.

Just interest to know if anyone else has changed to this part, as if I need to buy something I'd rather buy the best for my engine.

Cheers!

The air deflector plates under the cylinders are vital. Without them cooling air escapes between the cylinders and hence the cylinder heads, which is where the real heat is, are starved of cooling air. Those missing plates are the cause of your engine damage.

Also I believe the cool tins are to help the cooling of the barrels not the heads
