Will they deliver as I live on the Wirral

2.25 Gaz coil overs fitted this afternoon, small modification but otherwise ok, unfortunately there was no way the adjustable spring plates were going to fit as broached socket appears smaller than torsion bar, in this case 71-79 items don't seem to fit 72 crossover so more investigation work needed.

Done a bit more investigating and on counting the splines all 48 of them, it would appear my adjustable spring plates are for pre crossover ie early bays and not late as I need 52 splines which are also slightly larger diameter bars.

So looks like I will be posting an add in for sale section for these soon.

I stand corrected then :) Must be more room around there than I thought.

Hi guys

I have been following this thread and I am just about to order a set, BUT can somebody please

take a measurement from the arch lip to the ground, ( with these fitted )

WHY because I have a steep drive and a low garage door ( too high and it would not fit in the

garage too low and I can't get in the drive!!! )

Thanks Alan

Page 3, mine is sat around 22 inches. You can adjust them higher or lower than that though, sounds like you have a balancing act :D

Postman came with a gift(I wish) from Gaz

Hopefully get them fitted this weekend :D

Hi guys,

My Gaz shocks have arrived this afternoon - so no prizes for guessing what my evening entails!!

Just wondered what settings people that have already fitted them have found to be the best for the black collar for the springs and the damper + / - resistance setting.

Thanks,

G.

I'm running with the collar about 10cm up the thread and 6 clicks from minimum.

Let us know how you get on :)

I know I'm sounding a bit thick but I've got mine 5cm on the spring and 10 clicks from minimum but its a bit bouncy how would I resolve this more on the spring or the clicks?

Mark- great with the body but naff when it comes to mechanics

I would say more clicks should sort you out, that handles the rebound. Winding up the spring might help but it's more for the ride height but it would also reduce the travel

cool just gone up another 5 clicks

Got them fitted and just been out for a quick test drive.

Have set the collar to be 9cm up from the first part of the thread and gone 10 clicks on the damping adjustment.

Van is loaded ready for camping and would normally bottom out the tyres on the tubs / arches with heavy braking - didn't get any on the quick test spin so well happy.

Front of the bus seems a little higher than before but I guess it will settle a bit over a few weeks.

Have 130 odd miles to do tomorrow so that should give it a proper road test :)

Thanks for the advice guys - well chuffed so far and will report back after the jaunt around Cornwall :p

Gaz shocks and adjustable spring plates fitted at last. Running midway on damping and 195/60/15 rear and 185/60/15 front fully loaded trailer in tow and ready for a weekend away.

Cool looking good
Did you have any clearance issues regarding shocks against the beam or is it cos mine is 4" narrowed?

Hi mark,
No, but probably because my beam never had any bump stops on it, don't think 2.25 would have fitted otherwise.

I had to raise it an inch

Looks great

Wot set up do you have?

I have a slamwerks 4" narrowed ball joint beam / TransporterHaus drop spindles / bbt wheels / air shocks but if loaded up for hols etc I can get it to rub even if I have the shocks full psi.

And was looking at these, you said you had a wee prob because the beam was narrowed?

I take it yours is rubbed as well?

Waltz

Hi waltz
Yeah I've got tubs similar to evil bens a 4" narrowed beam with adjusters that are welded a bit further round to get more lows its a balljoint beam so can't go too low,I've also had to shave the ends off the beam due to hitting the deck
I've got wagonswest dropped spindles on the rear Transporterhaus adjustable plates and down one spline with small notches

I'm having an issue with the clearance between the spring and beam I have up tske the grub screw out to adjust the coil as I can turn it with it in.I think it may be down to my lower arm as I had to get them narrowed as well due to the shock bolt hitting the beam end plates I'm wondering if I can grind it down a bit more to get more clearance?
The shocks are a lot better but just a bit bouncy still need fetling
