Then laid some anti rust potion followed by rust preventative primer followed by red primer.......... again won't show all the steps but here is the red primer on:

Nice work Andy, Lines look awesome. You must be chuffed with this.

A true example of "measure twice, cut once "

Cheers dude :D
Plenty of measuring and using spirit levels to make sure that all is correct ;)

Thanks

(Just working late as trying to fix some issues in Australia...... place called Hawthorn)

So - it's your fault then.................

Hopefully a temp fix in place so off to bed soon - hope Aus is treating you OK still ;)

Happy for you :D

Enjoy your new day and don't work too hard.

(I know it's not your fault - this time....... :msn4: )

Cheers Pete :D

No time scales - all I will say is this year it will be road legal (don't I say that every year though ;) )

A couple of months of inaction - not good is it :(

Been having trouble with the wifes daily (Audi A8 4.2) so been working on that most of the time, but ended up having to sell it as spare or repairs as looks like the head gasket had gone on one of the banks of cylinders and would have taken to long to fix and she needed a car asap.

Had the engine apart quite a few times over the last 6 weeks:

Removing oil cooler:

Overheated again but no loss of coolant so replaced the thermostat (that was a ball ache) but I have her no more :(

So have now bought her another daily with the proceeds so hope this last as long as the A8 (had it 6 years) - got her a BMW 325 Ci Coupe (pick it up tonight):

:)

Hoping to get back on the van now but with the nights closing in, will be limited to just weekends again but hopefully will start to get some progress on her

Cheers

I've been thinking about getting one of those too!
Worth the pennies then?

Sorry to hear about the Audi, but well done on what you achieved with it. Shame it hasn't worked out in the end :(

Now get on with the van already

Finally got some van time :D

The plan was to fill a hole in the chassis top rail then look to put the top pieces on that hold the rubber around the engine so started to clean up the hole:

Started to weld it in:

After welding it in then ground them down:

Gave it quick rust proof and then the heavens opened so that was all I did :(

Great work, nice and tidy! :party0021:

How come you didn't paint / spray / rust-proof the inner box-section whilst you had the rectangle at the top cut-off? :msn4:
