Managed to remove the broken stud from the drive shaft.
Put a blob of weld onto the stud then placed a nut over the blob and welded again. Ended it up with this:

And, it came out with no problem :)

Also cleaned up the external part of the CV joint and will prep them for a coat of paint soon.

That is all I can do for now as out and about....

Andy,
Only just seen the post. You had me worried for a moment there - till I saw you could make a good set up.

Good to see you again & the good work you've done on the bus.

Bloody wet up there over Christmas. We were just above Kirkstall road!

Phil.
Much appreciated and also glad I could salvage something from the goodies ;)

Was a bit damp and sounds like you were lucky

Thanks again.

Hurrah - weather warmed up so can do some van stuff :)

Last week I took some suspension bits into work and got them sandblasted:

This means today I could clean and degrease (and get rid of someof the sand that managed to creep past the protection I had in place.
Some pics - spring plates cleaned and a dusting of etch primer:

Phone camera played up so some of the pics taken didn't turn up but here are the hubs after having etch primer and some black paint:

Started covering the rear hub carriers with etch:

Also a dusting for the drive shafts:

Hoping to finish of the spraying tomorrow (ran out of etch primer so will get some tomorrow).

Now there is a man after my own heart  I spend most of my life wandering around the house or the garage or looking through the car or the van trying to find something that I`ve put in a very safe place. It drives me banananananas. I`ve just started a new job and now I`m like a babe in the woods because I can`t find this on my Ipad or I can`t find that and I think it gets worserer and worserer as you get older. Oh well ,,, roll on summer

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Be good if you`re out with us this year,,, fingers crossed bud

Aye - does get worser and worser
Will have another look today as I want to start putting things back again as want to be ready for the summer :D

Weather picked up to day so started to remove 'underseal' - worst job in the world!!

Nothing exciting to look at but moving forward.
A few small areas where the paint has done well but mainly surface rust. Will continue (probably at the weekend) to remove the underseal and once the nearside has been done, will move on to the offside!

Busy day today so only managed a couple of hours (had to work on the daily first, drop my lad at work, then hurry up 'cos MotoGP season has started so now in front of the box waiting for the Moto3 to start :) )

Flashed on some etch primer then continued to scrap underseal off - getting there, but discovered more rust hidden by the underseal :-( ... a few pics of the etch..... can you all contain your excitement ;-) )

Put some rust treatment stuff on the gearbox hanger. If the weather continues to be good, might get to flash some etch and topcoat on over the next week or so.

Keep the motivation up dude. It is getting warmer to work on the bus 8)
Cheers and it is :)

Although - off to the Eye specialist this afternoon as have something in my eyeball (even though I was wearing googles....) :(

cunning plan said:
What googles do you use? Are they the full wrap-around ones or more like glasses?
Full wrap ones - I didn't have them very tight so this, I assume, is how something got in.
After waiting for around 2 hours, got seen - took the object out, looked to be less than 1 mm but the pain.
Hopefully, after a few days it should be back to normal.

Glad you got that sorted! Bet you tighten the strap now.
