Thanks dude, Toggles would be great, but I'll have to see how complicated the schematic is. :|
Here you go and sorry for the delay in posting. The diagram is from the AES Catalogue, I'm sure they wont mind me sticking up a picture if it gains them some business.

Thanks for putting that up dude.

It doesn't seem to include the brake light switch though, as the VW Hazzard switch includes that too.. :scared0012:

I'll take a look when I get home, but I reckon that the light switch must provide power for the brake light, I'll have a look at a diagram and get back to you.

Thanks chap.

I'm getting bogged down with trying to customise the loom. I might have to just copy the original :|

Yeah, know what you mean. After looking and looking, over and over again, I'm starting to recognise all the pathways, I guess it's just familiarity, not easy though that's for sure.

I had a look at three diagrams relating to the brake switch. On two drawings the brake feed has a direct feed from the fuse box. As far as the hazard switch goes, are you intending to keep that? If you are then I can see how confusing it all is, it's the reason why I am keeping mine. The wiring to that switch in particular is strangely complicated, I think it's made like this to simplify the wiring :|

How urgent is your wiring? The reason I ask is the loom the loom maker made is sitting in my workshop, would you be interested in it when I've finished copying it? Before removing it from my bus I got everything working, it's just missing bits that I wanted, it would be easy to add to it in its current state, just a thought.

Now that would be amazing! Just to have a complete loom that I know works and copy it would save a lot of hassle worrying if I have the correct lengths of wire and number of them etc. Then as you say, I can just modify it to include everything I would like :party0021:

I am still going to try and work out how to use toggles :msn4:

I have loads of other work to complete on my bus so I'm not rushed for the loom, it's not keeping it off the road :?

Thank you buddy! :party0047:

No worries, but remember my loom does include the original switches. To confirm I am retaining the original:
Ignition switch
Indicator and dip switch
Hazard switch
Windscreen wiper switch
And finally
The light switch

I'm gonna try and get a bit more done this weekend so I'll keep you posted.

Oh and as an aside I would add a bit of extra cable at each end of your loom Just in case you want to route differently. I did and and it's been really useful. Nothing worse than laying cable and snipping offf too early!

I should stop posting drunken messages and just post once! :?
If you are gonna go down the custom loom route you might also want to consider a different ignition switch. There are a couple of companies that do complete looms for VDubs and one of them (I think are called Watson's Street Works) do a loom with an ignition switch that has an auxiliary position, ignition and start. So great if you are running a lot of auxiliary equipment as the VDub switch only has the later two positions.

Drunken posts are the best ;)

Yah, I think what I'll do is copy the original, then try and 'edit' the connections to include toggles. Otherwise I'll just stick with the standard switches.

I did have a browse around for a generic wiring diagram to copy, like from a kit car or something, but I couldn't find anything.

You think just to work some lights, indicators and standard engine ignition there would be a few options. :?

Dude, how you getting on. I came across another company recently that I completely forgot about, they're call PoleVolt and their site has a few useful resources, worth checking out.

Hey chap. Paused at the moment, working on other things :|

How about yours? :?:

Same as you dude, doing the dash and trying to update everything is not the easiest thing one can take on. I've decided to learn a new drawing program to do a schematic using the new harmonised colour codes.
Anyone else out the got any advice on this, I'd be glad to hear it.

Wow, not done anything for so long, but did manage to get this done at the weekend :D

Spent too much time replacing all the old cracked rubber breather tubes for some shiny 8) stainless ones. Boy does does that braid hurt (and cut deep) if one strays, ouch! Looks much better.
Now it's on with the wiring which I am starting again, again. :|
Being one to change ones mind (often it seems) I'm gonna do the wiring the only way there is to do it, the right way (I think I may have said that before). I've learnt the drawing program, done the many layered drawing, gonna spend all day tomorrow measuring the cable runs (again), do some math and order the new cable. The difference this time is that it's all correct and original VW colour coded which is what I should have done in the first place :!:

looks good mate.

its nice to see some progress. :D

Cheers bud, at last eh?

Here's what I've been up to for the last few days. This is the rear fuse box mounting plate (Version 2!)

And this is a rough trial fit of the front fuse box positioning. It'll be better when it's straight!

Tidy wiring

Not as tidy as it's gonna be, here's a taster. I've got some rare time off work (in other words it's quiet) and so I'm putting my time to good use. Today I got stuck in to the 330m of fresh, new, correctly coloured cable...

and started wiring in the new rear fuse box:

more to come tomorrow, should be picking up all the big battery cables which have all had fresh terminations stuck on the ends. :D

Very nice dude. :party0021:

After I have done the headlining on my bus and fitted the windows I will be getting on with the wiring loom. I hope it turns out half as tidy as yours! :D
