I don't think clear coat will work over any rust as it continues to oxidise under the lacquer and then blow through.
A good polish and coats of decent wax should keep it protected from the elements for a few years.

Another couple of hours scraping today.
A couple of small holes in the n/s cab floor and the cargo floor, but nothing major after 40 years in the junkyard.

No work on the deluxe today, instead had a fettle with a couple of bikes and fitted the new whitewalls from the US.

Yes, microbuses had these as standard to provide additional fresh air ventilation to the passenger compartment.

40 years of baked on accumulated oil, sand and general grime.
And it's over 30 degrees in the unit.

That floor has taken a beating!!! never seen one bent like that. Good work , looks like a gallon of rust cure then!!!!!

It was used as a storage shed along the perimeter of the junkyard, along with at least 40 other bays and splits.
Mine was along the fence line on the left of the picture.

Struggling to get the front drums off, and my puller is just too small.

Are the shoes fused to the inside of the drums maybe? Some heat may help.

Yes, the shoes are stuck tight to the drums.
I've tried heat, Mike, no success there either.
Going to use a 5x 205mm spacer and try a bit of pressure with the puller whilst giving the drums some more heat and a wallop.

You seem to love punishment young man and that's possibly the worst case of infestation I have seen in any vehicle. Hope you didn't pay too much for it I'll keep looking.

Another cleaning session today.
Scrape, degrease, wash off & repeat....







Just need to do the engine deck and spare wheel well, then once the front hubs are freed it can be pushed outside for a hot steam clean.

Took the squareback down to see it's new home and had another cleaning session today, more rodent infestation in the tank area.
