Stupid question possibly but what is the inside of the hole where the dizzy shaft goes into look like. At the base there is the notch the dizzy locks into I also have something protruding from the centre which I now know is a spring. Never noticed this before. Only asking because there was debri in the shaft. Looked like cardboard but not to sure. Trying to find pictures to see if or how I can clean the shaft and spring.

Can the spring be removed?

Yes the spring can be removed but you have to be very careful not to drop it as could drop into the case. Also there are some small shims on the drive in the engine . There shouldn't be much to "clean " down there really as when engines running oil is being fed round there . Also putting the spring back in can be a delicate process as you have to slide it down a thin rod of some description . I've always been under the moto if it ain't broke don't fix it [emoji106]
