Anyone else addicted to WD? [emoji23]

It always brings a smile to my face at 6pm. I prefer the Mike and Edd double act, but Ant Antstead is ok he could do the show on his own though.

I likes Edd too. At the moment, I’m a bit keen on Bangers and Cash for my petrol head fix and for the silliness I do like them little dogs behaving badly, Grahams absolutely ace with them.

Ozziedog,,,,,,and that sums up my telly for the week

Just finished binge watching the new season of Drive To Survive , this week on Fletnix.
Got told off for hogging the fletnix as my son was watching at his place.
Oh well that's me done for now.

Yes he’s good with the dogs

Trouble is I’m only allowed certain time to the tv even though there’s two TVs downstairs

Got Netflix so will have to look that one up.

What always surprises me about the older cars on wheeler dealers is how similar they can be to our old buses mechanically.

I’m guessing that age wise, that’ll be the limits to the engineering and technical expertise available at the time, then go on a decade and it’ll be more powerful or more economical or cheaper to make. Just about everything nowadays is front wheel drive including our new Merc delivery vans and part of that is it’s so much cheaper to make a motor / transmission/ diff/ drive shafts etc all in one lump and crane it in just once and connect up all the fuel and zoorst and ready to go. This’ll drag the van around without a need for a prop shaft or separate diff and drive shafts etc etc. Bodywork can be lower on the rear without the diff a d prop, engine weight over drive wheels is way bettererer in ice and snow, downside seems to be a wickedly reduced turning circle, reduced as in ability not size

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,not toooo many A.C.s though

There was an episode a couple of days ago with a 1973 Ford Escort. It had drum brakes all round and Edd did a front disk brake conversion on it. I sort of wondered when disks became standard on the front axle, it must have been later than I thought as buses were disks from ‘71

I really enjoyed Wheeler Dealers, including the newer Ant and Mike ones. However, the latest season seems to have really gone off the track of what the show used to be about. There’s more time spent filming pointless driving scenes once the car is complete, and much less about the repairs and modification details. I guess this is just moving with the times where the captive audience nowadays is less likely to be a home mechanic and they’d rather see a car being ragged about on an industrial estate being chased by a fake policeman... For me, it will have a place as TV you don’t have to concentrate much with, but whether the latest stuff will have me reaching for the remote before the episode is finished is another question.

Fair enough it’s not for everyone[emoji6]

Mike is just playing a part though, but I can see how his cheeky cockney barrow boy style might irritate some.

Nope... I hate wheeler dealers, I absolutely loathe it! So cheesy, I’d put it on par with Hollyoaks for the levels of awfulness.

My favourite car programs are Roadkill and Engine masters on motor trend. The amount of ******** and old wives tails the guts engine masters have put to rest using a dyno is awesome.

I can’t watch Bangers and cash now, after buying my bus through them blind during lockdown......the nice looking, didn’t appear to have much wrong vehicle in the video is still on my drive with a 2 grand parts alone bill (and counting) after 3 months!
Auction houses seem to be able to take the commissions with very little comeback. Buyer Beware is deffo the rule.
Still enjoy WD though, as long as you can take Mikes cheeky cockney routine.

auction houses are brokers, the seller is still the seller, £2000 is a lot of parts, whats wrong with it ?

I use to watch the Edd and Mike programs but Mike is a ***.
I use to watch the garage.
Anyone else use to watch it?

I'm not surprised. I remember years back when they did the Beetle Crisis and Campervan Crisis shows through Race Shack, there was a lot of feedback from those involved via Forums, and it was clear the vehicles were lashed together to meet TV schedules, and then needed rebuilding properly afterwards.

Good luck getting it all sorted.

You have to remember these shows are funded by the production company , it has to be simple to cover the lowest denominator ! I like playing watch for the mistake and things like seeing a car with obvious new brakes fitted but no mention in filming or parts tally at the end. Even the "haggle" scenes are rehearsed ,price sorted before filming!
Watching the dream cars show last night and they had a Fergie tractor to trade up, it was a Continental engine model and 3 times they said it was a version of a road engine NO its not. Thats the Standard engine, how do I know? we used to have a Continental engine Fergie.
I like Speed is the new Black , Kindig and shows like that. Hot Rodder at heart, rebuilding my 1951 Austin A40 Countryman at the moment , modern running gear and air ride with ABS ,key less entry and stuff like that

I agree its all just entertainment, I bet they have a a couple of guys who do all the cleaning and routine valetting etc before the finished result

I loved the chevrolet corvette c3 last night though, would love to have a drive on the salt flats at 100mph!

1951 A40 that's a proper old car, I don't think I've ever seen one.

I doubt you will, did a "how many left" search and it said 3 and one of that lot is mine. Anyone can restore a car ,takes a real person to chop one about!!!
